Teragro Commodities Limited

Teragro Commodities Limited is the agribusiness subsidiary of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc.  We leverage on advanced technology in food processing to produce high quality agricultural products including orange and pineapple concentrates, mango purees and orange peel oil for industrial markets.

Incorporated in 2008, the company is the operator of the 26,500 metric tonne capacity Teragro Benfruit Plant in Benue State, Nigeria’s first-of-its-kind juice concentrate plant.

Teragro and its products are certified by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration (NAFDAC) of Nigeria and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) with ISO 9001:2008 and FSSC 22000:2005.

Teragro plans to  expand its operations and will capitalize on growing opportunities in food conversion comprising paddy rice to long grain and cassava to sweeteners.

Our Methodology

Our production and maintenance processes are coordinated to ensure that all machines are kept in the highest operational conditions. Our quality control and quality assurance units ensure that protective equipment is worn by all production personnel.

To produce juice concentrates, ripe and fresh fruits are handpicked from qualified local farms, loaded into trucks and delivered to the processing plant at Teragro. The fruits are thoroughly inspected by our quality control and assurance units with detailed checks, then weighed and washed using roller brushes which ensures maximum cleanliness.

Inspection and sorting is followed by the removal of unsuitable fruits, after which fruit skin and waste are removed through juice extraction. When this process is complete, we pump fresh juice into the stainless steel juice holding tank, and pre heat the juice to 65°C using a heat exchanger. Finally, the juice is concentrated under vacuum to maintain freshness before aseptic filling and packaging into aseptic bags and metal drums; the product is ready for shipping to customers.
